Judging from the other comments, this book was spoilt by a poor translation into Dutch. Especially in the beginning, it had a rather wooden and unnatural style, which meant that it took me a while to get into to it. After a bit, it was more fun, but never really got to be a gripping page turner. The characters were also not really that convincing.
In a murder mystery, the plot is critical and in this case it was indeed nicely tortuous, but I suspect that I saw more things coming than was really the author's intention.
