Love is an orientation

The main reason I give this five stars is because Marin bridges a huge divide between Christian and GLBT communities – something I’ve never seen done before without resorting to insults and condescension. As an intimate first person narrative, the writing often appears overzealous, but the outline of the book is solid. I also found the biblical exegesis in Chapter 7 to be too watered down (apparently to avoid divisiveness). This is an important book. Andrew Marin makes his point about needing to put our first priority on showing love as much by what he specifically does not say as by what he does say. Marin has put actions to his words over the past several years, and his example stands as a challenge to the rest of us. Good, good stuff.
