Beginning of a greater story

A bit confusing in the beginning. With the concepts of mandanas, our world. The nether, in between and Exillium the prison land of the fay. It's a good story but the first book is just the introduction. I'm halfway in the second book and the story begins to grow beautifully.

Between Two Thorns took a while to get into but by the end I absolutely loved the characters; even the ones I hated at the start. There are a lot of characters, the narrative jumping from story to story and until it starts to weave together, it is a lot to take …
