Travels in the Scriptorium

I enjoyed the psychological elements of this book; how would it feel if you woke up in a strange room with no clue who you were or how you got there? However, I've read other reviews that state that this book includes characters and such from Paul Auster's earlier works. Not having read his earlier works, I missed out on this aspect so I probably didn't get as much out of this book as fans of Auster's work.
