Review of 'The quarry' on 'LibraryThing'
On the island of Oland a man reluctantly tries to find out whether his estranged father is implicated in the murder of his business partner (not a terribly pleasant duty, as their business was pornographic films). His path crosses that of a lonely island native, now married to an obnoxious and wealthy writer, who is trying to make contact with the elves who she is sure live a parallel life on the island. Though I enjoyed this less than the previous two books in the series, it's still a well-crafted story that finds the explanation of the present in the characters' pasts and in the folk wisdom of this evocative island.
