Review of 'This Year You Write Your Novel' on 'Storygraph'
4 stars
I've read a lot of books on writing - Bird By Bird, Aspects of the Novel, Reading Like a Writer, etc.
This is the most straightforward bare bones book, I like Mosely's approach and style. Basically the advice is just do it. Block out some time like 2-3 hours, write everyday. Write a first draft, second draft, many more drafts. Any one is a potential writer.
The best piece of advice is is the tape recorder. When you think you are done, read out loud and listen to it.
The concept of the pedestrian is also helpful, other books on writing don't mention it, but that's how novels get to over 200 pages.
