Stuart Woodward reviewed The Gunpowder Plot by Antonia Fraser

The events described in this book still resonate till today. I am pretty keen on history but when I saw the title on Audible I just had to listen to it. If you can answer, "Who the plotters? Why did they want to do it? What role did Guy Fawkes play and what happened to them? " then you don't need to listen to it...
I re-listened to this book and on second listening was struck by the similarities of the religious persecutions in England to those of the jews and others persecuted by the Nazi’s. Catholics unjustly imprisoned and priests forced into hiding in their country of their birth.
Also I was struck at how the plot was a local to places that I know in and around Warwickshire. It would be interesting to revisit those places with this in mind. This would have made an interesting history project …
