Review of 'Lighthouse Island' on 'Goodreads'

A post-apocalyptic picaresque/romance. Like most good futuristic stories (e.g. 1984), this isn't about the future, but the present. It tends to run on, and its ending seems to have been unplanned.
==========================
An aside concerning a statement in the book about the small size of buildings in its future: Water can be pumped up about 10 meters using a pump that is above the water since the pump creates a vacuum and you are using the air pressure to elevate the water. But if you use a pump below the water, and especially if you pump the water up in stages, you can pump it as high as you like.
