Traditional gender roles abound.

I'm always set against the books that portray traditional gender roles because we have so many of them, so that's something I don't like. (Mommy went shopping, Mommy didn't have enough food for Daddy's dinner, Daddy came home from work, etc.) For something called a "modern classic," I feel like that's not modern in the slightest. (What about a stay-at-home dad?)

It's tolerable enough, but it's not a story I'd want in my personal library for any hypothetical children I (will never) have.
