Review of "The Lost Landscape: A Writer's Coming of Age" on 'Goodreads'

I really liked this one. Joyce Carol Oates can be hit or miss for me, though truthfully I've barely scratched the surface with this prolific writer. Something about this one really struck a chord in my heart. Maybe because I am at the age when looking back with nostalgia is a pleasant diversion from the present day reality. I like to look back and contemplate what lead to certain life choices, what shaped the person I've become, who I was back then. Sometimes me then seems like a different person from me now. I've made choices then I would not make again but at the same time all the mistakes and wrong turns leads to the me of today. So yeah, I get what she was trying to achieve here, not so much for us but for herself.
