SF dealing with the aftermath of traumatic experiences is rare enough, but this is an especially well done example. The space combat scenes don't hurt either, but they weren't the focus, at least not for me. Not quite on the level as The Deed of Paksenarrion, but a good, feminist read. Moon profits from her experiences in the Marines when she draws on it to describe life on a huge military spaceship.
