Review of 'The Great Convergence' on 'Goodreads'

While this book has a reasonably good plot, it reads like a fusion of every other fantasy book. The characters tend to be caricatures of themselves, with one or two personality attributes that are always at the forefront and never waver, unless it's to demonstrate the very artificial character development. The circumstances of the main character are straight out of Generic Fantasy 101 too: an outsider who doesn't know she's the bearer of greater things, and proceeds to become one of the most powerful people around.

It's easy to read though, but in no way challenging. Worth finishing, but only just.
