A very compelling mystery/thriller that holds no punches when it comes to exploring the ever present and systemic racism of small town Southern US.
4.5 rounded up because it made me cry. So many feels! Also so many graphic details of the murders. I read Karin Slaughter books so I'm no noob to graphic murder/torture details but when it's kids, it becomes a bit tougher to take.
My biggest take away is that Mr. Cosby writes beautifully. There were so many passages - even phrases - that made me stop and reread because of word choice. I just love his language and voice. I'd read anything he wrote just for that. The excellent plot and characters and tough to figure out mystery were an added bonus.
