Well, the metaphors are further fleshed out but I'm struggled to reconcile the continual comic book violence with the underlying rhetoric of fear, despair and hatred being the source of the monsters that are being fought. Beyond some passing references to less violent cures for these ailments most of the monsters we see in this volume seem to be in the "too far gone" category that makes them fair game. I still appreciate the intent of this series but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
