Fantastic read, whether you're into biology or not, I recommend this to anyone. But you don't have to be a biologist or specialist to understand it; Strathdee makes it very approachable and clearly explained, and the story is not about the technical details anyway; rather, it's a thrilling race to solve a mystery and stop a killer - the killer just happens to be a bacterium in this case.

I heard about this book, and heard the author's story directly, on an episode of This Podcast Will Kill You (also recommended) so I picked up the book. Couldn't put it down again! I wasn't expecting a book about medical stuff to be so riveting, but it kept me up reading till 12:45am when many a "lighter" subject book would have put me to sleep by 11. I plan to give this book as a Christmas present, and would recommend it …
