Geekess reviewed Horizon by Scott Westerfeld

Story was OK. 2.5 stars out of 5.
Simple middle-school writing, story is more on the YA side (without romance, thankfully).
This wasn't Scott Westerfeld's best writing (and he isn't a good prose-crafter to start with). It was clunky, unwieldy and very coarse in quality (not in word choice).
Still, the story had an interesting core. Nice pulp. Not nourishing or healthy, but entertainment nonetheless.
Extremely predictable in the wording/tropes: I could predict whole sentences. But ok. Brainless entertainment, and I've read much worse, without the entertainment value.
Would I recommend it? Only to people who like pulp, Lost and Correia's Monsterhunter.
