Review of 'On the Jellicoe Road' on 'Goodreads'

3 stars

While I am a huge fan of Melina Marchetta, I struggled with On the Jellicoe Road. After a few chapters, however, I started getting into it a bit more.

Marchetta has this great way of adapting her writing to suit her character's situation. Therefore, with Taylor Markham telling this story, there weren't many emotions explained and it all felt a little disconnected; but that was exactly how Taylor was.

The subject matter is dark, though the darkest issues are skimmed over lightly (due, I think, to Taylor's emotional separation) but it is a well-written book and comes together nicely at the end.

Not my favourite of hers, but Marchetta has produced a good book I am happy to recommend to others.
