4 stars
Took a while to finish this one. Overall well written, but a fairly narrow look at the Great Depression post-1936.
Hardcover, 464 pages
Published June 1, 2007 by Jonathan Cape.
This imaginative illustrated edition brings to life one of the most devastating periods in our nation's history--the Great Depression--through the lives of American people, from politicians and workers to businessmen, farmers, and ordinary citizens.

I'm usually a fan of biographies/historical accounts but this book just went too far. After trudging through 512 pages I don't think I learned anything new about the New Deal but I now know just about everything there is to know about Wendell Wilkie. B-O-R-I-N-G.
