I mean this in this best way, but this was trashy fun. Bingeable with lots of rich people drama.
It’s a bit long, and I could’ve done without the mom and detective perspectives. I’d have preferred just to have the teens. But I enjoyed the characterization of everyone. They were distinct and each had their own messy motivations.
I also liked the competitive horse riding setting. I love an individual, intense sport in a thriller. The way that it can completely take over people’s lives and lead to extreme behavior is so good for story purposes.
The writing got goofy melodramatic sometimes - the end of a chapter often ended with multiple fragments.
Like this.
For oomph.
It did not have the intended effect on me.
