Review of "The Boys' Club" on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

3.5 stars rounding to 4 because she did a good job updating the "big law" premise that Grisham started with The Firm, telling it from the perspective of a young female associate. As the partner of someone who did the whole "big law associate" thing (and now works for a big firm in a non-lawyer capacity), I found that so much of this rang true: the crazy hours, the established hierarchy, the all-nighters, the older male partners notoriously trading in their wives for young associates or having affairs with paralegals, the lavish holiday parties, etc. There was no question that Katz is a lawyer who has lived this experience. One key difference between this and The Firm – while The Firm was constructed as an unlikely thriller, sadly I suspect the experience "Skippy" has at her law firm isn't all that fictionalized, nor that uncommon.
