Review of 'The Missing Treasures of Amy Ashton' on 'Goodreads'

Amy is a disaster: she's a hoarder and her neighbors can't stand her.
To be fair, her best friend and boyfriend disappeared without a word a decade ago, and it left her desperate to hang onto whatever she can. Especially since it seems likely that they ran off together.

Decent premise, yes? Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of sympathy for hoarders, nor do I do well with prolonged wallowing. Therefore, much like her neighbors, I couldn't stand Amy. Even so, that's not my biggest issue with this book. My complaint is that this goes from being a normal "quirky girl" novel to – through the use of an absolutely whackadoodle plot twist – an entirely different genre.

No thank you. Pick a lane.
