Chesed: Mercy - Grace & Affliction | Element: Spirit | Contemplation, suffering, faith, existential choice
Read this for class and was expecting to loathe it. Instead, I found a surprisingly relatable story about a person's struggle for meaning, purpose and spirituality. It is very much of the 5th century, so many of his views are problematic and do not correspond to my own. That said, the translation was impeccable, Augustine himself was a great writer, and he had an inquisitive, seeking mind, all of which makes for compelling reading. I should note most of my classmates did not regard the book so highly, so there's that.
