Review of 'The Journal of aesthetic education' on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
Having worked with Robbie and contributed to the second section of the journal, I should give it five stars, but can't. One major reason is I'm just not that interested in aesthetics and individual approaches to political expression. The first two sections sort of sum up what's been going on in anti-war art and activism. For me, it was depressing to read how little, ineffective, and uninspiring it all is. The third section proposed some interesting theoretical challenges - mainly about contesting space and the private/public dichotomy - but I felt they weren't fully explored. Perhaps it was an article-length issue, or a submission quality issue (mine included). I appreciate what JOAAP is trying to do and that they're around, but it's not really my scene.
