Superb, great balance between scientific info, Black's life experiences as a forensic anthropologist, and the topic of death itself. Also surprisingly funny for a book about death!

A book about forensic anthropology by one of the people in the forefront of the area. The introduction was a bit long winded and it had some long sections about her family and relationships, which did go well in the book but they seemed overly long for the general theme.
It was interesting to hear how identification of people has developed over time, science and technology getting more exact, and the wide range of uses there are for forensic anthropologists.
I was unaware of the horrors occurring in Kosovo where she worked for humanitarian help with identifying fatalities to return them to the families.
Her passion for the area is evident and she has done a lot to progress the work. It was also nice to hear about familiar places in Scotland where she has worked, lived and visited. And I enjoyed the way she describes the appreciation of a …
