A delightful and enjoyable journey through a year of eating local (especially from her own yard). Kingsolver writes in such a way I feel like I'm sitting in the kitchen talking to an old friend, though one who tells a good story. Reading her gives both motivation to try and make some changes and undercuts a lot of the claims of why they are "haaarrd". A lot of it isn't hard. It just requires a change in thinking--start with what's in season not pick the recipe first. Buy (if not growing) a little extra and put it in the freezer. Breeding flock of turkeys? Ok, that takes some space but it was fun to read about. She doesn't say everyone should do that either, just that they did it--and maybe everyone should look for someone who is raising turkeys locally and outside. I expected to enjoy the book, but I …
