Good Premise that Fell Short on Execution

This was a good premise that needed better characterization or a better twist to elevate it. I didn't feel like I got a very good sense of Mira or Josh's characters. The prose leaned on a handful of descriptive words in a way that became repetitive.

This was a very atmospheric book to listen to on a long drive, and I enjoyed that aspect.

What was the moral here, don't trust your instincts? Is that a good thing to teach young women?

Note on the audiobook edition: At first I felt the reader was overenunciating, but I got used to it quickly.

ABANDONING. I liked the idea that this was part of the global reading program where people around the world read the same book at the same time... but I just can't get into it. I thought it would be a fun mystery since I once shared a rental car in a blizzard with two strangers to get from CHI to DET and remember what a weird dynamic that creates. Alas, I didn't care about any of the characters and I could only handle so many hints of foreshadowing. "I felt like someone was looking at me..." – YOU ARE IN A MOVING CAR WITH FOUR PEOPLE, this seems pretty easy to verify or dismiss, no?
