Review of 'Falling Man' on 'Storygraph'

I was profoundly disappointed by this book. I suppose I expect a lot from DeLillo. White Noise captured the ridiculousness of American academia. Underworld is probably the best summary of what America was like at the end of the last century. Both books examined the pervasive undercurrent of fear that was a part of living in America at that time.

Falling Man, on the other hand, feels like a failed attempt to explore what happened on and after 9/11. It is a failure of both DeLillo and his characters. While I can accept that this may well be the point - we can not understand what happened, but it nevertheless has a huge impact on our lives - I had hoped for more from DeLillo.
