"Two best friends share an aversion to 'the human shackles' of motherhood, only to discover that life has other plans. With a twisty, enveloping plot, the novel poses some of the knottiest questions about freedom, disability, and dependence – all in language so blunt it burns." - The International Booker Prize 2023 Panel of Judges

Gripping, powerful

This book was not easy to read. I empathised with the characters so much that I went along their arduous journey, and I'm happy I did. It's written with the wisdom of someone who's experienced the trauma of having/not having a child and has come out of it with clarity for the ages. Truly beautiful!

Review of 'Still Born' on 'Goodreads'

This might easy be one of the best books I've read, and going to read, this year. The language is mesmerising in its simplicity, and the story is a perfect mix of unusual circumstances & that which is most close to us, the daily reality of family and (for some) motherhood.
