Stephanie Jane reviewed Maladie Est Dans Ton Assiette by Idriss METO'O
A useful and impassioned book
4 stars
In this short book, Idriss Meto'o discusses reasons why people should exclude meat from their diets and gives a number of recipes to help them do so. The book is primarily concerned with the health benefits of meatfree eating although animal welfare does also get a mention. Meto'o identifies four main types of vegetarianism, veganism being one of them, and does work on the assumption that most people would keep consuming hens' eggs and / or cows' milk rather than excluding all animal products in one fell swoop. I was interested that Biblical reasoning for vegetarianism is discussed as I hadn't seen this before. Meto'o gives a number of Bible quotes in support of his arguments as well as referring to scientific studies. I would have liked footnotes identifying where some of the information was sourced as there are several sweeping statements which readers are expected to believe without question. …

However, overall, this is a useful and impassioned book which would make a good starting point for omnivores looking to alleviate current and potential health problems through improving their diets.
