Sometimes I finish an anime and decide that, in lieu of waiting for the next season, I'll just re-experience the whole thing as a light novel. That was Slime Isekai for me, with the second season only fueling my desire for more.
Weirdly, I'm not sure I like how the novel handled Shizu compared to my memory of the anime. While we got a more personal backstory from her as it jumps between her perspective and Rimuru's each chapter, it also seemed like they had practically no interaction before the climax.
Still, any points that I would have knocked off for that are easily made up by Gobta's Great Adventure, the greatest side story I've ever read in a light novel. Gobta is truly the greatest goblin.
