After her most recent birthday, there is a communication blackout from the woman I am obsessed with. She usually posts a photographic deluge of her day, you would know when she took a shit she documents to this degree. She reappears a week later and then it's only stories made up of reposts which isn't like her. She's all about that OG content. I think, this is weird. I go on her boyfriend's Instagram and he's thrown a party but she's not there, I check the Instagram pages of the friends tagged in his stories to make sure she's not there and she isn't. I go on her boyfriend's Instagram and he's thrown a party but she's not there, I check the Instagram pages of the friends tagged in his stories to make sure she's not there and she isn't. Two weeks later, she posts a photo from a new city, she's in Marfa in Texas. The photo is of her back, her body language is collapsed, she is dressed all in black like an office worker on a lunch break after pulling an all-nighter, or like Darth Vader in the sand. I wonder if her and her boyfriend have broken up. She rarely posts in this time. She is then permanently with one friend. They go away for a month and she announces to her fans she is taking a break from Instagram, they all bid her adieu. I have withdrawal and want her to get back quickly. When she returns, the red ring around her profile photo makes my body lurch with the cortisol and I click through her stories. She's done a road trip through the Southern States. I scrutinise what she looks like, is she happy. I figure, she is definitely going through a break-up. I cackle and say, good, out loud to no one.
