This was an enjoyable horror novella. It dragged a bit in the middle and was a bit on the nose, but I like where it landed.
I would like to nominate Addy Treadway for the "characters that went through some shit" award.
This was a short book so I'll attempt a short review. This was simple creature feature that took place over an in-fiction 24-hour period, give or take. Definitely had that SyFy Original Movie vibe. It did exactly what it set out to do, but I wish it had taken the "less is more" approach when it came to showing its hand; things that I wanted explained weren't and things that I didn't were. It was a fun premise and a strong opening, but I lost interest when I saw where things were heading. Still, I've seen this kind of story done worse though, so it holds up in comparison to other cryptid-based novellas I've tried.

Also, I know you have to make things interesting for the reader when the protagonist is going to be spending large portions of a book isolated and alone, but forcing them to have dialogue with their own hallucinations (that they know are hallucinations) isn't my preferred way of handling it.
