From back cover:

PEACE is the life story of Alden Dennis Weer, an eccentric old man living out his last days and fantasies in an obscure Midwestern town. It is also much more -- an extraordinary combination of the mythic vision of fantasy and the thrilling, disquieting suspense of a mastercrafted ghost story.

PEACE will awaken your dreams -- and put you in touch with a magical reality that lies just below the surface of everyday life.

Review of 'Peace' on 'Goodreads'

An amazing labyrinth of stories within stories weirdly interconnecting with each other. Very difficult to start (it took me a lot of motivation to push through) but what a reward! I'm sure, I've only scratched the surface of this wonderful fractal - I will be definitely reading it again, probably more than once.

Review of 'Peace' on 'Goodreads'

I have no idea how to categorize this book. I tend to agree with others that this is ultimately a ghost story, with the narrator roaming the corridors of his memory. It's brilliantly written, but a challenging read.

The ending... Just kind of happens, and I almost want to knock of a star for that, but it's so wonderful as a whole it keeps its five stars. This is one I can easily see myself returning to several more times, an I'd expect I'll find something new each time.
