I can confidently diagnose as sociopaths.

Promised therapy customers privacy...then gave their mental health info to advertisers.

Victims get less than ten bucks each.

Company made billion+ in revenue last year alone.

In a just society with good privacy laws, they'd face existential civil & criminal consequences.

Do you have alternative phrases to "for privacy reasons"?

I often get asked why I don't have/use WhatsApp, Zoom etc.
I usually reply "for privacy reasons", but I don't think that's the best option. People probably often think I have a higher need for privacy than they do. Maybe even, that I'm doing illegal or immoral stuff.

Describing the exact reason "because I don't want surveillance capitalists to make billions with my stolen data" might not be the best choice either, because people will be overwhelmed.

Now I'm thinking that maybe a simple "for ethical/moral reasons" is the best choice, as it conveys, that those are not good choices, without imposing my opinion on them. If they are intrigued about what I mean, they will ask.

What do you usually say? What do you think might be a good option? Discuss.
