Noah Berlatsky writes incisively about how, following the shameful role it played in the 2016 election and then after the Black Lives Matter movement emerged, New York Times owners and top managers experienced pushback from younger employees, and from employees of diverse backgrounds representing marginalized communities.

Backlash then set in from top levels of ownership and management.

Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks – „Die Verlegerin“ (2017)

(ARTE)

Margaret Sullivan says she asked friends and relatives in various locations what kind of reporing their local media did about the massive worldwide protests Saturday against Trump:

"Quick answer: Not close to what it deserved."

Then she did her own research, and found:

"In the Wall Street Journal, the story’s placement was the 20th most important."

"Today, The New York Times Editorial Board published an opinion piece decrying the state of transgender rights under the Trump administration."

~ Erin Reed

Yet as Erin Reed notes, "The paper has been influential in fueling … attacks" on transgender citizens in recent years, and has permitted some of its writers to publish material that parallels what the Trump administration is saying about trans people.

A big reason why I neither read nor boost NYT or WaPo posts anymore.

They're complicit hypocrites who refused to report on the contents of Project 2025 and now they're trying to profiteer off it.

Absolute slimeballs.

From Erin in the Morning: https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/nyt-hypocrisy-outlet-criticizes-trumps

about leaving the -- felt pressure to write "false equivalence":

“I’ve always been very, very lightly edited on the column,” he said. “And that stopped being the case. The editing became extremely intrusive. It was very much toning down of my voice, toning down of the feel, and a lot of pressure for what I considered false equivalence.” And, increasingly, attempts “to dictate the subject.”
