Finished A Close and Common Orbit just now, and I've been crying happy tears as I read the last couple pages.
For a while I was really worried that Sidra would just go through a repeat of what Lovey went through. I was so glad and relieved that she didn't and is now pals with Owl. I love these books so fucking much.
The saddest part is that I now have to move on from her and her family, much like I had to move on from the Wayfarer crew. I'm sure the other two books in the series are gonna be great too, but god damn I will miss them.

I'm halfway through "A Close and Common Orbit", and honestly Sidra's struggle and anxiety to fit into sapient society just feels WAY to relatable.
The book feels different from "A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet", but in a good way. I do miss the Wayfarer crew a little bit, but I am so glad that what happened at the end of the book is explored and not just kept a footnote. I can't wait to keep reading more of this later today.
They did a Folio edition of the first Wayfarers novel?! Way outside my price range, but if any Becky Chambers fans out there have a collecting budget...

#Books update. I gave 5 â to Fierce Hope: Youth Activism in Aotearoa - a good read for NZers interested in communities or activism or the future. @bookstodon Just finished The Best Thing You Can Steal by Simon R Green. Not as good as his Nightside books but OK. 1st in a new series.
Next up is #CozySF from #BeckyChambers, "To Be Taught if Fortunate". I found a home in her #Wayfarers books so I'm looking forward to this one.
