“My dad had printed out the Web site for this conversion therapist in Colorado Springs, and immediately I could tell it was quackery,” Yang said. “But I did not have the conviction of thinking, I’m going to be a gay man and suffer through that. I was, like, You know what? Sure. Maybe I am this malleable thing.” Part of him just wanted to make his parents stop crying. He agreed to go.

Reading now: Sounds From The Bell Jar

I was disappointed with a conference proceedings that Claridge edited because, like many conference proceedings, it called into questions whether people can understand anything.

This book, on he other hand, I really like because it treats the subject of psychosis and creativity (a topic which could get Thomas Szasz cringeworthy) seriously in terms of both clinical psychology and literary criticism.

I highly recommend "What Fresh Hell Is This? Perimenopause, Menopause, Other Indignities, and You" to those in any stage of menopause, or who live with or know someone who is... in other words, everyone should read it. It's very informative and Heather Corinna's snarky writing style makes it a fun and easy read.

Nothing drives me crazy more than listening to a or watching an internet show and they do an impassioned ad for BetterHelp. BetterHelp is such a predatory company that routinely offers really unsatisfactory services for too high a price. A friend called it "Consumerization of Therapy"

I realize that if you only accepted entirely ethical sponsorship these shows would struggle to exist, but this is one I wish more would turn down.

"One impetus for the shift is research showing that Black pregnant women are more likely to be drug tested and long-standing disparities in how Black and Indigenous families are treated by child welfare agencies. Mental health conditions and substance use have also emerged as leading causes of maternal death, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

> Sitting on the floor... staring at visibly clean, visible tiles... and the scattered crumbs of a lived life, that arguably exist for there to be something miscellaneous that ends up on floors... I wonder what sorts of crumbs will wind up on the floor of my lived life for me to vacuum up next...!
