A book a year Public

Created by Joerg

I'm reading one book from each year of my life. The rules are pretty lose: Has to be a novel, if I come across one that has a "should have read" flair to it (like The Color Purple or The Name of the Rose), I have to read it. Otherwise, trying to find a diverse mix, not just the best-selling thriller; not that I'd be too interested in those.

1979 - A minor player caught in the Watergate swamp provides the red line through a only semi-fictional history of worker's movements in the USA. Though more serious in tone, it has Vonnegut's trademark sarcasm, running gags and deep insight into the human condition.

Duluth est une sorte de Dallas, ville US typique où tout semble se prêter à la réalisation d'un feuilleton. Gore …

    Joerg says:

1983 - What an absolute shit book. Oh, Gore Vidal. Trying to point out racism and sexism in the world by heaping racism, sexism and rape "jokes" on top of each other. It's just still - racist and sexist. What a pity, the postmodern weirdness of space and time mixing would have been so interesting
