Review of 'How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
An interesting and quick read, this book follows the Garcia family -- specifically their daughters -- as they flee from the Dominican Republic to the United States to escape political persecution. The story is told backwards, chronologically speaking, and through the eyes of the daughters as well as those of their Haitian cook. The book is light reading in the sense that there is little actual history or politics discussed in it.
