Highschool faeries

I tried something new and found it was not so new... a Teenage faery story. As the main character is a teenager, highschool is involved. The people seem a bit insecure, but who would not be insecure in this complex situation... It is nice too read, but I hoped, the story would be more substantial. I will not continue reading this series. Spoilers ahead! Also something positive about the book: The characters are nice to each other and intelligent and open minded enough to in the end find solutions that really fit them. On the other hand: At one point Aislin is threatened to be raped by three men in an abandoned park, and is saved by another character. Aislinn walks away with a "nothing much happened" attitude - she is not given much room for anger or fear or any other feelings but goes on with her business. I think, you don't need to raped to be substantially shaken by such an event. It might be said in defence that she is used to witnessing violence as she can see the faeries going about. I still felt it more as lack of empathy of the author than a deliberate portrayal of Aislinns being desensitized. The other quite surreal scene is much later int he story, when a nameless faery character is harried by dark faeries and the good main characters just watch to prove a point to each other, and only when the point is proven, they intervene... tough luck for the faery.
