Review of 'Sabrina & Corina' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

3.5 stars. The stories here are of grief and anxiety. Fajardo-Anstine's worlds are full of people reacting to the distortions capitalism brings to their bodies and communities. It is a menacing world and an uncomfortable one to read.

I liked some of these stories more than others. At times I wanted more rigor than what was on the page. When she does hit her stride, as she does in the stories Julian Plaza and Tomi, she is able to synthesize a character's struggle and effortless expression of themselves through their duration.

I look forward to reading something longer by Kali Fajardo-Anstine.
