An interesting book, filled with fascinating trivia. Too much actually. It would have made a better book to browse, dipping into it a chapter at a time, spread out over a longer time. Because the wealth of facts got to be overwhelming otherwise. There was a wish for more pictures than the few pages of color plates tucked into the center of the book. And I wasn't the only one who kept stopping to google for the paintings that were described.
