Review of 'Miss Fitz Discovers Midlife Magic' on 'Goodreads'

1 star

I attempted this as an audiobook, narrated by the author. Who does not have a good reading voice, sorry to say, and sounds like she's about 12. This is bad when trying to make me believe the protagonist is supposedly 'middle-aged' with four children.

Middle-aged. Look! She's 41! I'm not certain when exactly 'middle-aged' is supposed to begin, but I'm 44, and I am not enjoying the label! Especially not when she seems to be written as though she was about 70.

I really didn't get very far in this book. I didn't even get far enough for Audible to allow me to leave a review. I didn't even get so far that I would have bothered even putting it on here at all if I could have left the review at Audible, but I needed to get this off my chest! The last straw was when this supposedly 41 year old woman refers to the crock-pot she received as a wedding present 25 years prior. Which means they must have married at age 16. Listen, I don't know what the laws are in America, but I'm pretty sure this is unlikely. I wonder if the story started out with her being around 50 and then she got de-aged a decade and the marriage didn't.

I wonder if Audible still offer returns.
