BR Kingsolver: Ruby Road (EBook) 4 stars

It had been thirteen years, but my heart skipped a beat. My brain was bursting …

Usually once I start one of BR Kingsolver's books I have a hard time pulling myself away. But I had to force my way through the first ⅔ until the action started. It felt like a pacing issue with the beginning just dragging no matter how much I enjoy the characters and setting.

Still it was a nice wind-up to the series that leaves room for more if she wants.

Love the whole series

5 stars

Funny, fast-paced and complex enough to keep my attention.

A female James Bond has to go undercover in backwater Louisiana. Then the murders start.

Being from the southern US and have relatives from Louisiana, the whole setting and characters are hilariously and terrifyingly plausible. The audiobook narrator does a great job not only expressing the characters but keeping them different enough that you always know who's saying what.
