Charles Dickens: David Copperfield or The Personal History, Adventures, Experience and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery (Which He Never Meant to Publish on Any Account) (1852, Bradbury and Evans) 4 stars

The Personal History, Adventures, Experience and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery …

Good skeleton to a story

I’m going to be honest… this book nearly broke me. I can see why it is so beloved, and yet Charles Dickens consistently employs the maxim, “why say in five words what you can safely say in twenty”. You can go a whole page and get a single sentence worth of information.
