I love the whimsical world in this book. What if everyone you knew was involved in a world that comes alive at night? People are not what they seem and you are in a secret competition with secret rules. The descriptions are fantastic and there to savor and flavor this world. I was distracted by the POV and tense, but eventually got the hang of things. I am willing to deal with these unique qualities when I am not in a hurry. If you read this, read it when you have time and patience. Otherwise you may be annoyed and or disappointed.

P.S. Even though Tim Burton already did a "circus movie," he could do a good job with this.

If you like this book you might like the movie Big Fish.

Mirrormask is also a quirky circus world movie.
