Improved as I continued

At first I was going to give this book no higher than a 3.7, but as I continued with it, I became more and more interested in the characters and what they were building. At first I felt like I wasn't clued in on the plans and strategies of the characters, but despite that I still enjoyed this book.

Enjoyable with a Flaw

This series has always been fun for me, and this book is no exception. Action, magic, cheesy comedy, it's just a high fantasy romp. But I do feel like this book suffered from some weird pacing, especially with the time skip near the end. Not enough to keep me from enjoying it, but I noticed it as I was reading. Overall though, it is a good LitRPG book. 4.2/5

It is as labelled, and my god is it fun

If you like exploring science this book is excellent at laying the groundwork for more exploration. As a mere layperson myself, this book was very digestible, and explained somethings that I had been wondering about in simple, graspable terms.

A Story of Family and Purpose

I went into this book expecting something good, but what I found exceeded my expectations. A girl grapples against the sins of those that came before her and her loyalty to those who she holds dear. All set in a world bursting with African myth, legend, and culture. The only thing that I’m upset about is that there wasn’t more of this book. Highly recommended.

Samantha Shannon: Priory of the Orange Tree (2018, Bloomsbury Publishing Plc)

A world divided. A queendom without an heir. An ancient enemy awakens.

An Interesting Read

I had a lot of fun seeing the disparate plot lines come together in the final battle. How the world is balanced is very obvious, but it was how that affected the world, and how the characters came to realize it that made it interesting. 4.3/5
