The author's use of male and female as nouns was very off-putting, but was probably intended to other the faerie. Felt more like the incel usage to me, as the language was very modern. The main character was pretty flat, with a monomaniac focus, and selfish in her personal interactions. Not terribly original but written well-enough and a very good book for bedtime.
