Matthew M. Conroy reviewed The Man Who Laughs by Victor Hugo

I loved Ursus and Homo. I think Dea was appallingly minimally developed. I love fine detail, but the listings of the peers of England and their history that goes on and on for no reason makes me question the author's sanity: why dump all this into the book? Many, many lovely, lovely stretches of writing, though.
