The sequel to the handmaid's tale followed several people who ended up being very interconnected, from the freedom of Canada to Gilliad and the baby Michelle who was smuggled across to Canada and as a symbol of what Gilliad must stand for. It leads to the downfall of this rigid patriarchal society where for many the options for living are no better than being dead. Certainly with twists I didn't see coming with family trees and inside helper, it came to a hopeful conclusion.
